The funeral service will be September 7, 10:00 A.M. at Gass Haney Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Klatt officiating. Interment will be in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, 12.5 miles north of Columbus. Osten was born June 25, 1914, in rural Platte County, Nebraska, to Gerhard and Katie (Gehring) Janssen. Viola attended District 28 School. On February 17, 1938, Viola was united in marriage to Harold Osten at Zion Lutheran Church, Grand Prairie. They farmed for many years in the Grand Prairie area. While on the farm, Viola was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Ladies Aid. In 1989, they moved to Columbus and joined Peace Lutheran Church in 1990. Viola moved to Gold Crest Retirement Center in Adams in 2008. Viola enjoyed bowling, gardening, and playing cards with her family and friends. Viola is survived by: Son: Leland (Elva) Osten of Lincoln, NE Son: Gordon (Linda) Osten of Chandler, AZ 5 Grandchildren 1 Great Grandson Sister-in-law: Luella Janssen of Columbus, NE Viola was preceded in death by: Parents: Gerhard and Katie Janssen Husband: Harold Osten 3 Brothers 2 Sisters
