Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 7, 2020 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Ft. Atkinson, IA with Rev. Nick Radloff presiding. Burial will be in St. Johns Cemetery. Read More	Viola Mary (Chipera) Pitzenberger, 95, of Jackson Junction, passed away August 2nd, 2020, at MercyOne Dyersville Senior Care. Viola was born on March 1st, 1925 the second child and youngest daughter of the late Joseph G. and Katherine (Herold) Chipera on a farm east of Jackson Junction, Iowa. She was a high school graduate from St. John’s Catholic School in Fort Atkinson and lived and enjoyed working on the family farm. In 1959 she started working part-time for the U.S. Postal Service in Jackson Junction as a postal clerk, moving upward to (OIC) officer in charge, and retired as Postmaster in charge in 1995. On October 22, 1963 she married Rudolph M. Pitzenberger of Jackson Junction the son of the late John J. and Rose (Koci) Pitzenberger. Their loving union had one daughter Jolene Katherine. She was a very dedicated and supportive wife and mother. Together with her husband she helped raise Suffolk sheep, job and sell popcorn. She enjoyed gardening and being outdoors in nature. Viola was very involved in St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson all her life and held several offices for the St. John’s ladies’ guild. She was a member of (CDA) Iowa Catholic Daughters of the Americas; Waucoma, Queenship of Mary#1806. She was a member of the Jackson Homemakers women’s club. A chairman for the Jackson township fundraising committee. She belonged to the National League of Postmasters and NARFE (National Association of Retired Federal Employees). She was also active in 4-H, a garden leader for 5 years and a club leader for 15 years. Viola is survived by her daughter Jolene (Steve) Timp, Dyersville, IA. Two grandchildren: Cami and Wyatt Timp, Dyersville, IA. Two sister-in-laws: Lillian Chipera, New Hampton, IA and Nerissa Chipera, Jackson Junction, IA, along with many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Viola was preceded in death by her loving husband Rudy in 2010. Her parents Joseph G. and Katherine (Herold) Chipera. One sister and brother-in-law; Cecilia (Eugene) Leuenberger. Two brothers; Leonard and Paul Chipera. Her father and mother-in-law John J. and Rose (Koci) Pitzenberger. One brother-in-law; Lawrence (Lena) Pitzenberger. One nephew: John Chipera.
