Description	:	Violet lived in Cherry Cove in the Lauada Community of Swain County until she was about twelve years old. Her family then moved to the Hall Cabin at head of Bone Valley, past the town of Proctor, in what is now part of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park.She attended Proctor School, then graduated from the high school in Bryson City. Her family then moved to the Hall Cabin at head of Bone Valley, past the town of Proctor, in what is now part of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park.She attended Proctor School, then graduated from the high school in Bryson City. Fred Nichols was working at the lumber camp/sawmill at Proctor when they met. They eloped to Blairsville, GA when she was seventeen and he was thirty, aided by Verlin and Elsie Prince Cable. Fred got a job at Fontana helping build the dam that was under construction. A year later they moved to Chilhowee in Blount County, TN where they had purchased a small farm. By that time they had a baby daughter, Frances, and three more followed within a few years: Ina May, David, and Marie. They lived in Tallassee, Townsend, and Happy Valley, moving frequently as work became available, then returned to Graham County, NC. Violet experienced many health problems, especially heart attacks and diabetes, beginning in her thirties. She moved to Waynesville to be near her daughter Frances four years before she died, residing at Haywood Rest Home the final two years. At the age of 64 she had her third open heart surgery and survived only a couple of weeks.Fred had died only nine months previously. Violet was a loving mother who was dedicated to the Lord and her family. She and Fred visited the elderly, shared with the needy, and ministered to the lost. They had no treasures on earth, but laid them up in Heaven.
