Born in Scotland, Mrs. Evans was the widow of Charles Vance Evans, a native of Crisfield. Her late parents were John and Annie Duncan Downie. She had been in poor health for sometime. Surviving are three brothers, Alex Downie of Youngstown, Ohio; Ernest of Cape May, N.J. and John Downie of Vermont, and three sisters, Mrs. Jeanette Carson of Youngstown; Mrs. Jean Houleston of West Chester, Pa., and Mrs. Betty Macintosh of Crisfield.
