A funeral for long-time Chico resident Violet Goldie Uhl King, 85, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, at the Grace Community Church. She died Sunday, Aug. 1, 1993, at a local convalescent hospital. "Mrs. King was born May 19, 1908, in Rimbey, Alberta, Canada, to Michael and Minnie Uhl. She moved to Chico with her parents in 1925, and the family owned and operated a small almond ranch. She married Jack King on Oct 3, 1932. Mrs. King worked as a licensed vocational nurse for 36 years for Drs. A. J. Lofgren, F. Schuster, and A. Kamman. "She was baptized into the membership of the Brace Baptist Church in 1927, and was an active member until her recent illness. "Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Delmatier of Chico; a granddaughter she raised as a daughter, Lynn Delmatier of Chico; a brother, Leonard Uhl of Burney; a sister, Eloise Bergstrom of S. Dak.; and two other grandchildren. "Private entombment will be at the Chico Memorial Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, at the Newton-Bracewell Chico Funeral Home, which is handling the arrangements."
