Description	:	Mrs. Violet Greene Lyons, 92, formerly of 160 Wilson Avenue, Elizabethton passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2008, at Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Lyons was the daughter of the late Coy C. and Nora Guy Greene and was a native of Avery County, NC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Lyons, two brothers, William T. Green, Edgar Greene and three sisters, Modest Creasey, Betty Owens and Isabella Greene. Mrs. Lyons was the daughter of the late Coy C. and Nora Guy Greene and was a native of Avery County, NC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Lyons, two brothers, William T. Green, Edgar Greene and three sisters, Modest Creasey, Betty Owens and Isabella Greene. Mrs. Lyons was a member of the Biltmore Baptist Church in Elizabethton and was a homemaker. Mrs. Lyons is survived by three sisters, Ella Whitehead, Blanche Hill and Velma Lee Clemons, all of Elizabethton; special friends, Jennifer Arney, Donna Williams, Andy Williams, all of Elizabethton and two sisters-in-law, Ruth Green, Elizabethton and Peggy Greene, Burk, VA. Several nieces, nephews, great- nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews also survive. The funeral service for Mrs. Lyons will be conducted on Saturday, August 16, 2008 at 2:00 PM in the Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, with Rev. Jonas Revis officiating. Music will be under the direction of David Arney. Interment will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be J.D. Arnold, Glen Creasey, Clyde Williams, Dennis Stevens, Andy Williams, David Stonecipher and Larry Lynn Moreland. Honorary pallbearers will be Members of Biltmore Baptist Church, the staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home, the staff of Caris Hospice, Dr. Claire Paris, Rev. Randy Johnson, nephews, great nephews and great-great nephews. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Saturday prior to the service.
