Violet Marie Hochhalter was born June 25, 1925, to Mike and Bertha (Kapsch) Hochhalter. She attended country schools then graduated from Elgin High School in 1943. She attended Dickinson State Teachers College and taught in country schools. She also worked at Boeing Aircraft in Renton, Washington. Violet married Harry Keierleber on June 08, 1946. They farmed south of Elgin until retiring into Elgin in 1979. She worked at the hospital s a CNA for a time. She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and its women's group. She had belonged to the Art Association, Germans from Russia, a homemakers club and many other community groups. Her interests included sewing, gardening, cooking and baking, painting crafts and genealogy. Before her health failed she enjoyed bowling, golfing and fishing. Her husband, Harry, died in February 2002. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Elmer and Raymond; her son, Bruce; and her granddaughters, Kashia Lynn Keierleber and Anne Marie Keierleber. Violet is survived by two sons, one daughter, three grandchildren, one great grandchild, one brother, one sister, and two sisters-in-law.
