Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church Estelline, South Dakota Interment Pleasant View Cemetery Hayti, South Dakota Visitation 5PM to 8PM Tuesday at Geise Funeral Home in Estelline Violet May (Rook) Casjens, daughter of Roy and Mary (Vogt) Rook, was born November 6, 1916 near Estelline in Deuel County, South Dakota. She spent her early years and received her education in rural school in Deuel County and graduated from Watertown High School in 1936. After her marriage to Harry R. Casjens on February 28, 1941 in Rack Rapids, Iowa she was employed at Munsingwear in Minneapolis, Minnesota and at Woolworths in Sioux Falls. From 1946 to 1954, they farmed in Deuel County on her parents homestead. In 1954 they moved to California and lived there until returning to a farm southwest of Clear Lake in 1957. They farmed there until 1964 when the returned to California. In 1968 they moved to Estelline where she was employed at Smitty's Cafe for four years and then worked as a cook at the Estelline School until her retirement in 1985. Harry died on September 1, 1987 and she continued to live in Estelline. She entered the Estelline Nersing and Care Center on February 9, 2004 and died there on Saturday, June 4, 2005 at the age of 88 years, 7 months and 28 days. She was a member of the Mt. Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church in Estelline, the Ladies Aid, and the Birthday Club. She enjoyed crossword puzzles. Grateful for having shared her life are two sons, Michael Casjens and his wife Sharon of Bowdle, SD, Steven Casjens and his wife Ginger of Bruce, SD; three daughters, Peggy Carrico, Wendy Casjens and Connie Beck, all of Aberdeen, SD; 12 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; one brother, Rodney Rook and his wife Berdyna of Estelline; and a host of other relatives and friends. Violet was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and one brother, Glen."
