She loved both flower and vegetable gardening, taking great pride in her house and grounds. Read More	Halifax Herald 4/1/2003 CORKUM, Violet Rose - 67, Blockhouse, died Monday, March 31, 2003, at home. Born in Farmington, she was a daughter of the late Archibald and Ruby (Hatchard) Corkum. She was a loving grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who loved her greatly. She loved both flower and vegetable gardening, taking great pride in her house and grounds. She was involved in her community, helping out when others where sick or in need of a drive and was a 15 year member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Blockhouse Fire Department as well as a member of the United Baptist Church Ladies Aid, Mahone Bay. She had been office manager for E.W. Dorey and Son for 35 years. She was a wonderful cook and loved to bake, always welcoming people into her home. Besides her friend and companion, Ross Dimmell, she is survived by daughters, Catherine (Clayton) Walker, Chester Basin; Janet Corkum (Eddy Sarty), Pinehurst; son, Trevor (Annette) Corkum, Middle Cornwall; sisters, Beatrice Corkum, Watford; Ruth (Archie) Croft; Hebbs Cross; Kay Zinck; brothers, John (Barbara) Corkum, Lower Branch; Allen (Mae) Corkum, Farmington; grandchildren, Travis, Tammie, Tiffany, Brittany, Julie, Melissa; six great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by son, Brian; sisters, Nellie, Hazel, Maggie. No visitation by request. Memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday in the United Baptist Church, Mahone Bay, Rev. Tom McGaw officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. Interment of ashes will be 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in St. Matthew's Cemetery, Newburne. Contributor: G
