Description	:	BOWERBANK and ENGLEWOOD, Fla. - Virgil A. Warren, 92, died unexpectedly June 25, 2010, at a Bangor hospital. Virgil was born March 11, 1918, son of Albert and Ada (Ayer) Warren of Dover-Foxcroft. He graduated from Foxcroft Academy in 1936. Virg was known as an athlete in his high school years in Dover-Foxcroft, especially in baseball, and was a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox. Read More	BOWERBANK and ENGLEWOOD, Fla. - Virgil A. Warren, 92, died unexpectedly June 25, 2010, at a Bangor hospital. Virgil was born March 11, 1918, son of Albert and Ada (Ayer) Warren of Dover-Foxcroft. He graduated from Foxcroft Academy in 1936. Virg was known as an athlete in his high school years in Dover-Foxcroft, especially in baseball, and was a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox. He served with the U.S. Army, 1942-1946, during World War II as a postmaster in the Army of Occupation in Japan. He attained rank of sergeant and returned home to his high school sweetheart, Dot (Dow) Warren, to whom he was married for 66 years until her death in 2008. He was employed by the U.S. Post Office in Dover-Foxcroft from 1941 to 1977. Upon his retirement as postmaster in 1977, he enjoyed many years at his home at Sebec Lake, as well as his winter home in Englewood, Fla. He is survived by a son, Richard Warren and his wife, Jane Warren, of Winterport; a daughter, Jane Merrill of Dexter; two granddaughters, Amy Merrill and her partner, Joseph Case, of Dexter and Amanda Burse, daughter of Richard and Jane, and her husband, Michael Burse, of Rumford; and three great-granddaughters, Angel Case, Mikayla Burse and Catherine Burse. He will be missed by his in-laws, nephews, nieces and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Ada Warren; his brother, Philip Warren; and a sister, Virginia Lampher. Burial will be in the family lot at Gray Cemetery, Dover-Foxcroft. (Bangor Daily news 6/29/2010)
