Read More	The Madison Courier Madison, Indiana 9 December 2015 Virgil Clyde McKay, 74, of Madison, died Monday, Dec. 7, 2015, at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. He was born Sept. 8, 1941, in Madison, to Ralph and Pauline McFarland McKay. He was raised in Switzerland County and graduated from Vevay High School in 1959. He served in the Air Force from 1960 to 1964 during the Vietnam War. He resided in Indianapolis for 35 years. He worked as a CPA for Wilhelm Construction for 30 years in Indianapolis. He later worked at Colonial Baking and Modern Structures for several years. He was a member of the Vevay Post 185 of the American Legion. He served as a superintendent for the Switzerland County Soil and Water District. After retirement he moved back to Switzerland County to the family farm and enjoyed the outdoors. He was elected in 2006 to the Switzerland County School Board. He planted thousands of oak trees and the family farm was certified with the Department of Natural Resources Purdue Forestry Project in 1994. In October 2003 he was named a Purdue Master Gardener and received a certificate of appreciation from the Arbor Day Foundation in 2010. He played the banjo, mandolin, dulcimer and guitar. He also played piano for services at the Plum Creek Baptist Church near Vevay and other area churches. He enjoyed automobiles, collecting toy cars and hats, and NASCAR, especially driver Dale Earnhardt Sr. He was a member of the Corvette club, Hallmark Club and Dulcimer Club. He is survived by his wife, Judy O'Day McKay, whom he married May 18, 1963; two daughters, Christy Muzquiz of Indianapolis and Misty Blankman of Rushville; one grandson; one aunt; two uncles; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Anna Grace McKay, who died Jan. 28, 2015. The funeral will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre. A final salute and military honors will be conducted by Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in Vevay Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 5 p.m. until the service. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Wounded Warrior Project.
