Virgil Jensen was born February 15, 1927, to J. Albert and Myrtle A. (Bergerson) Jensen in Kingsbury County, SD. He attended Hartland School District #36, also known as the Jensen School, through the eighth grade. On November 26, 1949, he was united in marriage to Joyce E. Lundquist at the parsonage in Bryant, SD. The couple farmed their entire lives together and had five children; Bruce, Mark, and Tim; and daughters Judith and Sandra. Virgil was a member of the East Bethania Lutheran Church, then the Garfield Lutheran Church, and finally Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bryant, where he was active and held many offices. He loved and adopted wild mustangs, and had many. He also loved farming and travelling. He is survived by his wife, Joyce; his sons, Bruce (special friend, Donna), Sioux Falls; Mark, Erwin; and Tim, Erwin; his daughter, Sandy (Raymond)Cheney, Tea SD; 5 grandchildren, Carrie (Kirby) Quamen, Amber Johnson, Casey (Vanessa) Cheney, Cierra Jensen, and Layne (Molly) Jensen; 8 great grandchildren, Joshua, Annika, and Zachariah Quamen, Isaac and Isabella Johnson, Caleb, Roman, and Christian Cheney; his sister, Geraldine (Richard) Lommel; numerous sisters and brothers-in-law, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Judith Baumberger; his siblings, Edythe Weber, Joyce Dubro, LuVerne Jensen, Darlene Gunderson, and Merlyn Jensen. Memorials may be designated to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Bryant, Ne-So-Dak Bible Camp, Waubay, SD, Joy Ranch Bible Camp, Florence, SD or the Erwin Community/Legion Hall. - Osthus Funeral Home
