Mrs. Sterling was born... Read More	Mrs. Virginia D. Sterling Passed Away At Age Of 89 Born In Pocomoke City, Lived Here Most Of Life One of the community's most estimable ladies, Mrs. Virginia D. Sterling, died at her home in Lawsonia Friday morning of last week at the age of 89 years. While not in the best of health, she had been active up until a few weeks ago, when she had a fall on the back porch of her home, and within a few days after the fall her condition became critical until she passed away Friday. Mrs. Sterling was born in Pocomoke City, the daughter of the late Harry and Ann Jones, and moved here following her marriage to the late Andrew G. Sterling. She was one of those motherly women, devoted to her family and her home, concerned first with the welfare of her husband and children, attentive to their needs, and finding satisfaction of the highest order in ministering to them. Active and energetic, intelligent and sympathetic, Mrs. Sterling had won a place in the hearts of neighbors and friends that was peculiarly her own. Until a few years ago she was active in church work, and derived much pleasure from attendance at services and taking part in the meeting of church societies. Generous an d very human, she was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in distress or ill, and in late years when she was not so active outside her home many were the friends and acquaintances who called to spend an hour or two with her because of the genuine regard in which they held her. the devotion and affection of her children and the warm friendship of the many who knew her made her long life a very pleasant one. Funeral services were held at her home in Lawsonia Sunday afternoon at 1.00 o'clock, conducted by her pastor, the Rev. J.T. Rowlenson. Interment was beside her husband in Asbury cemetery. Bearers were Joseph H. Pinto, Edward Sterling, Ernest Stant, Allison Hall, Doyle Tyler and Jack Landon. Many friends and relatives attended the services, and the large number of beautiful floral pieces sent to honor her memory were evidence of the love and esteem in which she was held by so many. Mrs. Sterling is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Bertha Swartz of Baltimore, and three sons, Arlie G. Sterling, Joseph C. Sterling, and Wilson B. Sterling all of Crisfield. She also leaves a sister, Mrs. Eva Sterling of Annapolis, Md., seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
