The long weary months of suffering were blended into sweet rest. She knew in whom she had believed and was not afraid to go. Virginia Frances Cobbs was born in Marion county, Mo., Oct. 18th, 1843. She was married Oct. 18th, 1866 to Randolph Ashford in Palmyra, Mo. To this union was born three daughters, Mrs. Jane Garrett, of Clarence, Mo., Miss Annie Ashford and Mrs. Lizzie Bowman, both of whom preceded her to the better land. There are seven grand-children and three great-grandchildren. She leaves two sisters Mrs Annie Tuttle, of Edmond, Okla. and Mrs Lucy G. See, of Shelbina, Mo. In the year of 1867, she united with the Missionary Baptist Church at Philadelphia, Mo. and has been a true and consistent member of that denomination until her death. She expressed her willingness to go in her last hours and left a glowing testimony to her aged husband and her only remaining daughter. She with her husband have made their home for the last 3 years with their daughter and her husband, E. G. Garrett and wife at whose home she passed away. Besides her aged husband, daughter, grandchildren, and great grand-children and sisters, she leaves a host of friends to mourn their loss. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at Oakridge Church conducted by Rev. Colburn, of Paris. The Clarence Courier, Clarence, Missouri, 17 May 1922, Wed • Page 1, Column 3
