Manering and Helen Shepherd Manering Harper. On Sept. 12, 1955, she married the love of her life, Miles S. Sheldon, in Fort Wayne, Ind., and he survives in Kenton. Manering and Helen Shepherd Manering Harper. On Sept. 12, 1955, she married the love of her life, Miles S. Sheldon, in Fort Wayne, Ind., and he survives in Kenton. Also surviving are their children, Lee Ann (J. Scott) Mathews and Don (Ellen) Sheldon, both of Kenton; eight grandchildren, Melody (Eric) Miller, Matthew Bowman, Erin (Brett Merold), Joshua, Alea and Kyra Sheldon and Ladson and Scotty Mathews; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Don F. Manering; and an infant sister, Connie. She attended the House of Prayer Church in Kenton. Jenny attended McGuffey Schools and proudly completed the GED with flying colors just ahead of her son's graduation from high school. Jenny was a school bus driver in the years when it was unusual for a woman to be employed in that manner. The seat had to be raised on to a box for her to see over the wheel, and she wore a police whistle around her neck to maintain order. She lovingly cared for her family and home, was a great cook and an avid reader. She loved playing cards and games with all takers. She loved giving gifts, always impatient for the gifts to be opened and begging the recipient to open the gift early. Jenny has in her sweet, gentle way bravely fought progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) for the last 10 years, having been lovingly cared for by her husband and four granddaughters when her body no longer functioned properly, but her mind remained strong. Her family has been heartbroken by the loss of the woman they all loved so much but is overjoyed at her release from suffering after having "fought the good fight and finished the race." She leaves a legacy of faithfulness.
