Virginia was born on May 29th, 1941 in Chariton, Iowa to Artie and Lois (Miskimins) Partridge. On February 20, 1959, she married her high school sweetheart, Larry A. Bishop in Corydon, Iowa. Virginia received her Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics Education and later her Master's Degree in Housing and Household Equipment from Iowa State University. She worked as the County Home Economist in Boone and Greene Counties and later as the State Specialist in Housing and Equipment for the Extension service at Iowa State University. During her tenure in Home Economics, Virginia taught at ISU, gave presentations on housing and equipment at seminars around the state, on local radio and television shows, and was instrumental in the state of Iowa in researching and educating on the use of microwave ovens. To this day, her family still enjoys the recipes developed during this time. In 1981, she obtained her real estate license and was a real estate agent with Century 21/Quam Real Estate in Boone. In 1999, Virginia opened her own real estate firm, Bishop Real Estate, where she served clients until her retirement in 2005. Larry and Virginia also purchased and renovated many rental properties over the years, including the historic Goeppinger Building on Story Street in Boone, the location for the Bishop Real Estate and Bishop Properties offices. Virginia was a member of the Boone Open Bible Church prior to moving from Boone in 2005. A resident at Edgewater since 2011, Virginia was active as a member of the Edgewater Singers and frequently played the piano for the Sunday church services there. One of her greatest joys was to share her love of music by playing the piano for her fellow residents. Virginia was an extremely proud mother and grandmother and looked forward to hearing about her family members' latest accomplishments. She had a love for learning and was a master of the Google search, taking her new found knowledge back to be shared at the dinner table the following evening. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Larry, in 2001; her parents; Larry's parents, Raymond and Kathryn Bishop; and brothers-in-law Jim and Marvin Bishop. She is survived by her daughters, Christine Skilton and husband David of Nashua, Iowa and Cynthia Wagner and husband Scott of Clive, Iowa. Also left to cherish her memory are her five beloved granddaughters Elizabeth Skilton of Lafayette, Louisiana, Kathryn Skilton of Charlottesville, Virginia, Madeline Skilton of Nashua, Iowa, and Hannah Wagner and Chloe Wagner of Clive, Iowa; her siblings Philip Partridge and wife Janet, Carolyn Ruhde and husband Al, and Charles Partridge and wife Judi; sister-in-laws Pat Bishop and Carrie Bishop; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
