Read More	Beloved Virginia Ruth Spicer “Ginger”, born in 1944 to and proceeded by Ed and Charlotte Thompson of Glenmora passed away of natural causes at the age of 75 on Friday, March 27th in her home she shared with her husband of 66 years, Charles James Spicer Sr., known as “Speedy” (1944-2019) in Carrabelle Florida. She is survived by her sons Charles James Spicer Jr, Chad Jeremy Spicer, and her daughter Chandra Janese Spicer. Virginia Ruth loved westerns just like her Father, reciting the names of every actor and lines from classics and obscure ones. She was creative at her core—she would show this in the way she cooked for family and others. She loved to sew, making clothes to our every whim to show off the first day of school. She also had a penchant to make heirloom quilts—a tradition she learned from her mother. An avid gardener, she knew how to brighten any house we called home with the joy of flowers and plants year round. She was a talented artist that loved to paint, but shy to accept offers for exhibitions. She and Chuck loved to dance, participating in dance marathons and wowing audiences with their raucous and synchronized fun. Recently she was able to come to DeRidder for a week to hold court to a parade of visitors—brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews, along with their significant others. We shared meals and stories for a visit she talked about for weeks afterwards with pure happiness. A member of the Four Winds Tribe of the Louisiana Cherokee Confederacy we honor her to lay her to rest in the grounds of Occupy One in Pitkin with her parents and her sister Vivian T. Brown on Saturday April 4th at 11 am. Due to the concerns for the health and safety of friends and family during these trying times, a virtual service will be enacted. This service will allow for those that cannot gather to pay respects and those that come, to pay their respect one by one at a distance. At a later date, a gathering will be had to celebrate her life in the manner which we do—through our love, lots of good food and storytelling. Her kind and gentle ways will be missed and stay with us always, as she taught us so in how to be unto others.
