Description	:	Vivian Elvira Stalheim was born to Valborg and Elick Elverson on September 14, 1918 in Dell Rapids, South Dakota. Vivian passed on to join her husband Ole with the Lord on November 16, 2010. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 19, at 10:00 A.M., at Stevens Funeral Home, 607 28th Street, Ames, Iowa. A graveside service will be held Saturday, November 20, 1:00, at Garretson Cemetery, Garretson, South Dakota. Following graduation from Dell Rapids High School, Vivian completed a Teacher's Certificate at Augustana College, in Sioux Falls, in 1940. Vivian passed on to join her husband Ole with the Lord on November 16, 2010. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 19, at 10:00 A.M., at Stevens Funeral Home, 607 28th Street, Ames, Iowa. Following graduation from Dell Rapids High School, Vivian completed a Teacher's Certificate at Augustana College, in Sioux Falls, in 1940. She then taught elementary education in Aberdeen until marrying Ole in 1942. They moved to Hurley, where they started their family and Ole began his veterinary practice. Moving to Vermillion in 1944, Vivian completed her B.A. in English at the University of South Dakota. She was active in university and church women's associations and, being an excellent musician, taught her family and friends the piano, and sang with many church choirs. The Stalheim family moved to Ames in 1964, where Vivian completed her M.A. in English at Iowa State University in 1964. She taught in the Ames schools and for the community colleges in Boone and Marshalltown. She followed this with overseas teaching in the Sudan, China, and Turkey. She capped her career teaching English at Szombetaly University, Hungary as a volunteer for the Peace Corps, in 1994. Vivian is survived by her daughter, Julie Ann, of Mankato; sons Alan, of Carpenteria, CA; David,of Denver, and Jon, of Sioux Falls; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
