Warren Cole, was born June 14, 1886, in Colby, Wisconsin, and passed away May 24, 1982, at Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior, Nebraska, at the age of 95 years, 11 months and 10 days. Read More	Vivian J. Cole, daughter of Thomas W. and Angie A. Warren Cole, was born June 14, 1886, in Colby, Wisconsin, and passed away May 24, 1982, at Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior, Nebraska, at the age of 95 years, 11 months and 10 days. Her family moved to Nelson from Wisconsin when Vivian was two years old. Her parents are well remembered in the community. T.W. Cole, her father, being a lawyer, and her mother, Angie, postmistress at Nelson for some time. In 1932, Miss Cole was asked to work at the courthouse as secretary, bookkeeper, typist and stenographer. She had already attended a business school in Omaha and had experience working in her father's law office. Working as a secretary to each office proved too large a work load however, and it was not long before she became secretary to the County Judge only. During her career she worked with many different judges. As Clerk of the County Court for 41 years, she witnesses many marriages and also issued licenses. In 1973 she retired from the Courthouse at the age of 87. Vivian was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Nelson. Several years ago she was honored for 80 years membership in the church. She has been a member of Eastern Star since 1910 and P.E.O. Chapter J since 1919. She served as secretary for both. She also belonged to the Bide-A-Wee Club. Vivian was well known for her most generous donations to all charities. Her favorite past time was photography. She loved her pictures and has at least 50 well-filled photo albums dating back as far as her childhood. Funeral services were held Thursday, May 27, at 2 p.m. at the First United Presbyterian Church in Nelson, with Rev. Scott McCormick officiating. Pallbearers were Guy Bruce, Frank Harris, Ellis Garrison, Yale Meyer, J.P. Wehrman, Lee Clabaugh. "How Great Thou Art: and "I Won't Have To Cross Jordan Alone" were sung by Joe Ferebee and Elizabeth Wehrman with Esther Wehrman as organist. Burial was in the Nelson Cemetery.
