Description	:	Vivian Ronneberg, 89, of Big Timber passed away Monday February 6, 2006 at the Pioneer Medical Center. Vivian was born November 24, 1916 in Polson to Martin and Sophia (Berg) Ostenson. He roots were deep in Sweet Grass County. Her Grandmother, Anna Hoyem, came to the Norwegian Settlement in 1882. Vivian's mother was a member of the Girls Aid in the Melville Church in 1903-1904. Read More	Vivian Ronneberg, 89, of Big Timber passed away Monday February 6, 2006 at the Pioneer Medical Center. Vivian was born November 24, 1916 in Polson to Martin and Sophia (Berg) Ostenson. He roots were deep in Sweet Grass County. Her Grandmother, Anna Hoyem, came to the Norwegian Settlement in 1882. Vivian's mother was a member of the Girls Aid in the Melville Church in 1903-1904. Vivian attended public school in Polson, but shortly moved back to Big Timber where she finished her education. During the summers she worked as a helper for several families in the area to include the Sam Cohn's and the Mosness's. She said that one family she worked for gave her a dress, a pair of shoes and twelve dollars for a summer's work. She met John Ronneberg at a dance in Springdale, and they were married on April 24, 1937 in Anaconda where John had gone to work at the Smelter. They soon moved back to Big Timber where their first son, John was born in 1938. The years following brought five more children: Alvin, Carl, Carol, Marilyn and Randy. Vivian stayed busy raising her children. Her husband worked for Severin Oie at Oie Motors for several years, then a few years with Leo Cremer at the Gibson Ranch, then back to Oie Motors for Arnold Johnson and Chuck Schuler. The later years John and Vivian had a small place just west of Big Timber where they raised sheep, milk cows and chickens. Vivian mostly took care of the animals while John worked in town. John passed away in January 1989 and Vivian stayed on the place until 1995 when she moved to Big Timber. She moved to the Pioneer Medical Center in October of 2002. Vivian was preceded in death by her husband, John; son, Alvin; sisters, Mina, Alta, Iona; and her brother, Orie. She is survived by her children, John (Diane) Ronneberg, Carl (Jeanette) Ronneberg, Carol (Spencer) Jarrett, Marilyn (Jim) Zabrocki, and Randy Ronneberg; daughter-in-law, Bobbi Ronneberg; grandchildren, Alan, Anna Marie, Amy, Karla, Karen, Justin and Heather; 12 great- grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her "Special" sister, Edna Nelson. Viewing will be held from 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 9 at Stenberg Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 10 at the Big Timber Lutheran Church, interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Memorials in Vivian's name may be made to the Pioneer Medical Center or to a charity on one's choice. Arrangements are by Stenberg Funeral Home.
