Horner, 85, a longtime resident of Wenatchee, died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2000, at Highline Convalescent Center in East Wenatchee. Vivian was born on Dec. 20, 1914, to Noah and Annie A. (Taylor) Whisenhunt at Greenwood, AR, where she was raised and received her early education. In 1926, she moved with her family to Montana and in 1930, moved to Wenatchee where she attended and graduated from Wenatchee High School. After raising her family in a home on the family orchard on Methow Street, Vivian later attended Wenatchee Valley College and graduated with a degree in nursing. She worked for St. Anthony's Hospital and also for Rosewood Hospital, specializing in pediatrics. She loved working in the nursery and taking care of all the newborn babies. Vivian enjoyed collecting antiques and was an exceptional cook who loved to bake. She even sold her baked goods to help pay for the remodeling of one of their early homes. She also loved to travel and the time spent with her family and friends. She was a member of the Calvary Bible Church for many years. Survivors include her two sons, Dave and wife Gail Horner of West Linn, OR and Bill and wife Chris Horner of Seattle; seven grandchildren, Rachele Balogh, Katy Downey, Annie Horner, Cort Horner, Paige Horner, Mark Syria and Ron Syria; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Wendell. A graveside funeral service will be held Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000, at the Wenatchee Cemetery at 1 p.m. with Pastor Stephen Whitney officiating. For those friends that wish, memorials may be made in Vivian's name to the Alzheimer's Research Fund. Jones & Jones Funeral Directors are handling the arrangements.
