Mrs. Vlasta Blaha was born January 14, 1880 on a farm near Vining the daughter of Joseph and Anna Kucera. She taught in the rural school of Tama county before her marriage to Charles Blaha on October 24, 1914. Mrs. Vlasta Blaha was born January 14, 1880 on a farm near Vining the daughter of Joseph and Anna Kucera. She taught in the rural school of Tama county before her marriage to Charles Blaha on October 24, 1914. She made her home in Irving, Iowa, until the death of her husband in 1937 and then moved to Elberon with her three children, who are left to mourn her loss. They are Edwin Blaha of Cedar Rapids; Charles Blaha of Mt. Vernon and Mrs. Helen Schminke of Atkins. There is one grandchild, Wayne Blaha of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Kucera of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Libbie Novak of Elberon; three brothers, Charles J. Kucera of Williamsburg; Eman Kucera of Elberon and Leon M. Kucera of Cedar Rapids. One brother Emil died in infancy. A large group of relatives and friends attended the funeral services on Thursday afternoon from the Methodist church in Elberon, with the Rev, Ruth Husband of Cedar Rapids and Rev. P. H. Schepple of Elberon officiating. Mrs. P. R. Overturf, Mrs. Charles Upah, with Mrs. Byrl Gillespie, pianist, furnished the music. Casket bearers were her nephews, Charles and Otto Kucera, Glen Blaha, Wilfred, Charles and J. P. Novak. Those attending the funeral from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Otto Kucera of Monticello; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schminke of Vinton; Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Schminke, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schminke, Mrs. George Haerther, Mrs. Leona Melkus and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schminke, all of Atkins; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Schminke of Van Horne.
