Keese, president of the Ferguson Savings Bank and a man prominent in the Ferguson neighborhood. Mr. Keese's death was due to cancer of the prostate gland. He had been in poor health for several months, but had been confined to his bed only during the past ten days. He was brought to St. Thomas hospital a little over a week ago, and returned home Sunday, realizing that his death was near, and wanting to be at home when the end came. Mr. Keese was a native of Wayne County, Indiana, where he was born January 21, 1862, the oldest child of Mr. and Mrs. Jaque Keese, who came to Iowa in 1870 and settled in Jasper county. Later the family moved to a farm near Gilman. Mr. Keese was united in marriage March 25, 1891, with Miss Sarah E. Lutes, and went to Vienna township, where for five years Mr. and Mrs. Keese lived on a farm. They moved to the farm south of Ferguson, which has since been their home. In addition to the presidency of the Ferguson bank, Mr. Keese was interested in the management of the Farmers' Elevator Company of Ferguson, of which he was a director. He was a member of the Christian Church of Ferguson and the Ferguson lodge of Odd Fellows. Aside from his wife, Mr. Keese is survived by three children, Vessie, Arthur, and Bernice. The son was called to the service just a week before his father's death, but was granted a leave of absence because of Mr. Keese's expected death. Two brothers and five sisters also are living. They are John and Alfred Keese, Mrs. Leroy Gallagher, and Mrs. S.D. Green of Gilman; Mrs. R.E.L. Mann of Laurel; Mrs. Charles Bill of Sheffield, Illinois, and Mrs. Delbert Hilsabeck of Alberta, Canada. Funeral services will be held from the Christian Church at Ferguson Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment in the Gilman cemetery. Added 19 Dec 2018
