Description	:	Vonna Gail Schlechter, 49, of Polo died Wednesday, January 16, as the result of a two-car accident near Clark. Her funeral Mass was held on Saturday, January 19, at St. Liborius Catholic Church in Polo with Reverend Mike Schneider officiating. Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Vonna Gail Bucher was born on June 11, 1941, the daughter of Elmer and Lorine (Roche) Bucher in Huron. She moved with her family to Rockford, IL, in the fall of 1941. The Bucher family returned to South Dakota in April, 1943, to the Bucher farmstead wet of Polo Vonna Gail graduated from elementary and secondary school in Polo and was a graduate of St. John's School of Nursing in Huron. She worked eighteen years as a registered nurse. She married Lawrence Schlechter on November 13, 1962. They lived on a farm west of Polo. Vonna Gail was an associated member of the Sisters of Saint Benedict, Mother of God Monastery of Watertown and was a lay minister of St. Liborius Church, Polo. She taught religion classes at St. Liborius and was a member of the Christian Mothers. Survivors include her husband, Lawrence; five sons, Rich, Terry, Alan, Chad and Andy; one daughter, Julie; two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Barbara Jean) Haneke, Polo, and Mrs. Larry (Kay Ann) Elfrink, Highmore; and one brother, Mike, Bucher of Benecia, CA. Pallbearers were Mike Schlechter, Jerry Bucher, Leo Haneke, Ted Schlechter, Ron Haneke and Jim Haneke.
