Read More	Mrs. Howard Conrad 1946 Bridgewater Bulletin Funeral services for the late Mrs. Howard Conrad, who passed away suddenly at her home in Lower Branch were conducted by Rev. D.L. Kennedy. Mrs. Conrad was one of our oldest citizens who even at 91 years was an inspiration and example to her friends. She had retained that rare quality of character which had marked each day of her life with some joy, the ability to find something good in everyone and in any situation, accepting in good faith whatever life offered. Keenly interested in everything and everyone, she was a most interesting companion. A visit to her always left the visitor the richer by far. Until her sudden death, she had kept up her regular correspondence with her beloved grandson and her daughter in the United States. Her greatness lay in her quiet strength of character and in her sterling faith against which life's storms wasted their fury. Those who knew her best will remember her as a living example of these words, "It is more blessed to give than to receive." Mrs. Conrad is survived by four daughters, Mrs. W. Sarty, Mrs. W. Foley, Mrs. A. Jefferson, and Mrs. H. LeClare; one son, Fred, with whom she resided. She is also survived by two sisters, Tamar (Mrs. Eli Ritcey, 85), and Esther (Mrs. Rufus Mailman, 88); and a brother, Amos Whynot, 73. Besides grandchildren and great-grandchildren, there are several great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at her home, followed by a short service at the grave, where she was laid to rest beside her husband in Branch LaHave Cemetery. Four grandsons acted as pall-bearers.
