Lancaster, 74, of East Wenatchee, passed away Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, in Central Washington Hospital, after a seven year battle with Multiple Myeloma. He was born July 24, 1927 at the family homestead, Day Creek area, Curlew, to William and Emma (Short) Lancaster. Wallace was from a pioneer Washington family. His grandfather, J.E. Lancaster, was born in Walla Walla, WA territory in 1864. He moved to the Wenatchee Valley with his parents in 1929. He attended school in East Wenatchee and became a bridge walker at Wenatchee High School, graduating in 1945. Wallace served in the U.S. Army as a surgical technician during W.W. II. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to the area and attended Wenatchee Valley College graduating in 1948. He met Jessie McKinney and they were married in 1948 in Wenatchee. They had recently celebrated their 53rd anniversary. They took foster children into their home for years. Mr. Lancaster worked at the silicon metal plant at Rock Island, retiring as a supervisor after 39 years. He was a member of Holy Apostles Catholic Church, a family man and an outdoorsman. Survivors include two sons: Bob (Darlene) of Chewelah, Phillip (Valerie) of East Wenatchee; one daughter: Rosie of Tacoma; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was prececed in death by his wife in September of this year, one daughter, two brothers and one sister. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
