Read More	Barnie C. Lancaster December 10, 1931-July 20, 2015 Barnie was born December 10, 1931, at 119 North Emerson Street in Wenatchee, WA to W.E. and Emma M (Short) Lancaster. He joined brothers, William II "Bill", Steven, and Wallace. His family moved several times before settling on Grant Road in East Wenatchee. He attended school in East Wenatchee for nine years. Having no high school in East Wenatchee, he became a "bridge walker" and would go from East Wenatchee to Wenatchee to attend high school. After a few months of walking the bridge to school, Barnie had enough and moved to Curlew, WA to live with his uncle, aunt and cousins on Day Creek. He quickly became part of the family by helping on the farm and also in the sawmill and logging business. He attended school in Curlew, and during the school year he would drive the tractor down the mountain with the cousins in tow in a home-made box on the back of the tractor to catch the bus. In his senior year of high school, he moved down the hill and lived with the Graves family to work the night shift at the sawmill as an edger and attended school during the day. He graduated high school in 1951. After graduation, Barnie returned to Wenatchee. In his quest for work, he landed a job with John Viebrock at what is now the ski hill in Waterville. It was that summer that he made many new friends including a young lady named Marjorie Carroll. That fall, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He went to Hawaii for basic training then on to Japan for CBRN training. After training was completed, he was deployed to Korea to serve in the Korean War, also known as the "Forgotten War." He served from June 1952 until March 1953 as a rifleman in the 7th Division, 32 Regimen, A Company. While serving in Korea during combat, he was shot in the right foot and shrapnel in his left leg, which he was able to remove himself before getting to medical help. He spent five days in Yeongdeungpo, South Korea, recovering before returning to his unit, where he spent the rest of his tour. Upon returning to the states, he was stationed at Fort Lewis, WA from March 1953 to November 1954. On September 26, 1953, Barnie married Marjorie, the young lady he had met in Waterville 2 years before. Barnie and Marjorie had five children, Carol, Ruth, Linda, James, and Ray. Barnie and Marjorie later divorced after 25 years in February of 1979. Later in 1979, Barnie met and married Sue Carpenter. Barnie and Sue were not only husband and wife, they both loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping and gardening. In 1979, Barnie was blessed with one more son, David. Barnie worked at the Silicon Smelter plant in Rock Island for 39 years. At the time of his retirement, he was maintenance supervisor at the facility. He always enjoyed and respected the people he worked with and held them all in high regard. Barnie is survived by his loving wife, Sue; four children: Ruth Lancaster Crowe (Dan), Linda Lancaster Finch (Tom), Ray Lancaster (Jackie), David Lancaster (Nsharra); nine grandchildren: Gary, Daniel, Danielle, James, Wade, Jaiden, Sinoma, Kristin, and Nick, and five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joe Lancaster (MaryAnn), Richard (Flora), and many nieces and nephews. He was preceeded in death by one daughter, Carol, one son, James, and brothers Bill, Steve, Wallace, John and sister, Marie. Services will be held at the Waterville Cemetery on August 15, 2015, at 10 a.m. A gathering will follow to share memories and stories of Barnie's life.
