Description	:	Walter Churchill was born near Bristol, England, September 26, 1841, and departed this life January 26, 1923, aged 81 years and 4 months. He came to America with his aunt and uncle when six years old. Later his parents came and located in Ohio, then removed to Michigan and later to Iowa. January 15, 1861, he was married to Jerrildena Kerchner. To this union were born eight children; five sons and three daughters. Two sons died in infancy. Read More	Walter Churchill was born near Bristol, England, September 26, 1841, and departed this life January 26, 1923, aged 81 years and 4 months. He came to America with his aunt and uncle when six years old. Later his parents came and located in Ohio, then removed to Michigan and later to Iowa. January 15, 1861, he was married to Jerrildena Kerchner. To this union were born eight children; five sons and three daughters. Two sons died in infancy. The surviving children are Mrs. Ellen Peterson, Mrs. John Friday, George, Walter A. and Albert Churchill of Geneva and Mrs. O.C. Mullkin of Sugar City, Col. There survive also twenty-three grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Mark of Brighton, Ia., Joseph of Exeter, Neb. His wife preceded him in death August 27, 1911. The three deaths in the family occurred the same day of the same month, in 1896, 1879 and 1923. He was the oldest of eleven children. He gave his heart to Jesus in early manhood. In 1912 he united with the Methodist Church of Geneva, of which he was a faithful member, attending when health permitted. In August 1871, he with his family homesteaded six miles southeast of Geneva in Chelsea Township. In 1912, he and his daughter and husband moved to Geneva, where he lived until he was called to the Heavenly Home. He had been a patient sufferer for a number of years. This is the first time that father and daughter have been separated and their home is sadly broken. He was a kind and loving father. He was lovingly and tenderly cared for by his daughter, Mrs. Friday. All that loving hands could do was done to relieve his suffering, but he answered the call. His three sons and three grandsons carried his casket. The funeral took place from the Methodist Church in Geneva, at 2:30 p.m., Monday January 29th, and was conducted by Rev. R. H. Thompson. The interment was in the Geneva Cemetery. “Gone, gone away and left us Never more shall we see his face. Fell the warm handclasp or hear the soft footfall. Sad our hearts and how we miss him, But God said his work was done. Soon, so soon, we’ll go to greet him, Then our sorrow will be o’er.” The Nebraska Signal February 1st, 1923 page 8.
