Description	:	Walter Clarence Mackey, "Pat the Barber" was born May 17, 1928 at Usta, SD to Ralph and Leota (Milligan) Mackey of rural Faith S.D. Pat and his twin brother William,"Bill," were the first in their family to attend college. They attended South Dakota State University at Brookings in the late 1940s. Pat and his twin brother William,"Bill," were the first in their family to attend college. They attended South Dakota State University at Brookings in the late 1940s. Pat was married to Margaret Young of Isabel S.D. on November 23 1951. He joined the Army and served in Nevada and Washington until 1953 when his son Michael was born. In 1954, his daughter April was born while they were living and ranching in Cottonwood, S.D. Shortly after that Pat attended Barber School in Iowa and set up his shop in Fort Pierre, S.D. Two sons, Justin and Charles and a daughter, Holly were born while Pat maintained his shop in Fort Pierre. Pat and Margaret divorced in 1975. Pat returned to his family home and married Mary Susan Englehart on October 2, 1979 at Sturgis, SD and set up his barber shop in the Bison area. Following Mary's death on July 1, 1997, Pat remained in the Bison area and continued operating his barber shop. He passed from this life early Monday morning, July 2, at his home south of Bison. Pat leaves behind one sister, Frances Derflinger of Faith, SD; five children, Michael Pat Mackey, of Hulett, WY; April Faye Mackey of Rock Hill, SC; Justin Ralph (Nancy) Mackey, Bend OR; Charles James (Lori) Mackey, Yankton, SD; Holly Dee (Jeff) Roltgen, Piedmont, SD; four grandchildren: Wendy and Jacob Mackey, Yankton, SD; Mary Mackey, Bend OR, Nathan and Anna Roltgen, Piedmont, SD; special friends Todd and Rownea Gerbracht, Bison, SD; several nieces and nephews as well as numerous friends and acquaintances throughout the state. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Leota, several brothers and sisters, and wives; ex-wife Margaret Young Mackey and Mary Susan Mackey. The memorial service for Pat Mackey, age 79, of Bison will be held Saturday, July 7, at the American Lutheran Church in Bison. Pastor Margie Hershey will officiate with the inurnment in the Bison Cemetery. Full military honors will be afforded by the Rogers-Smith American Legion Post # 255 of Bison.
