Description	:	A closer look at the inscription on the tombstone suggest that it is a W not an N. if so this is the Walter Clement of the suggest changes. The other three memorials on the obelisk are his children. Before 1832 Walter moved to Bellefontaine, Logan County, Ohio Walter married Malinda Newell on April 22, 1832 in Logan County, Ohio. 1841 Moved to Muscatine, Iowa 1843 Moved to Eddyville, Iowa 1844 Helped establish the first school board and became the first teacher Became the county surveyor and established the town lines and city lots. In 1847 his was one of twenty families living in Eddyville In 1849 he was one of the founders of the Mutual Institute, a literary society that founded the town library In the winter of 1851-52 Ezra Meeker worked on Walter's survey crew. In 1859 he was the county surveyor He is listed in the 1860 census but not in the 1870, or 1880 Wapello county census Walter's parents were Mary Treadwell and Henry Clement who are probably buried in Pine Grove Cemetery in Thorton, NH according to a descendant.
