Description	:	Walter Dominic Dubas, Jr., 79, of Fullerton, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2020, at Arbor Care Center in Fullerton. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 21, 2020, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Fullerton with Reverend David Fulton officiating. Inurnment will follow at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in Fullerton with military honors by Fullerton American Legion Post #151 and U.S. Army Honor Guard. Walter was born August 6, 1941 to Walter and Mary A. (Nosal) Dubas in Genoa. He grew up in Fullerton and attended Fullerton Public Schools. After school, he worked many different jobs around town and helped his dad at home. He enlisted with the U.S. Army on February 4, 1960. He was stationed at Ft. Lewis, WA and was with the Company A14th transportation battalion. He was honorably discharged on April 4, 1962. After discharge, he was employed with Nebraska Public Power District in the Columbus office. In 1970, he went to work for Ace Sand and Gravel in Fullerton. After the death of Cecil Drew, he became the manager of Ace Sand & Gravel, where he worked for 21 years. In 1991, Jr. and Kathy became sole owners of Jr. Dubas Tree Service and they operated the business until 2002 when he became disabled. They sold the business to their son, Kevin, in 2002. For two years, he sat around and “shot the shit” until he got bored. He then worked at Werner Trucking in St. Edward hauling salt, sand, and grain around the Midwest. Jr. and Kathy bought a camper and spent their winters in Mesa and Tucson, AZ to San Bonita and South Padre Island, TX. They also took many local trips camping with the kids. Jr. and Kathy were instrumental in starting the investment for Fullerton Motel, Valley View Assisted Living and Southview Apartments. They also helped start up the Pawnee Golf Course. He was a lifetime member of the Historical Society. He was also a member of Fullerton Chamber of Commerce, St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 3rd Degree Member of Knights of Columbus, and American Legion. He was a former member of Fullerton Sportsmen Club and the Eagles Club. He served eight years as a county supervisor, two as chairman. He also served eight years on the Board of Directors of the Northeast Nebraska Department of Developmental Disabilities. He enjoyed getting under people’s skin, playing Sheephead, talking and reminiscing with anybody, reading western books and newspapers, his dogs, and spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Kathy of Fullerton; children, Pam (Greg) Nathan of Lincoln, Kevin (Jacque) Dubas of Fullerton, Cindy Dubas of Fullerton, and Tony (Jennifer) Dubas in Fullerton; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and brothers-in-law, Lyle Newquist of Fullerton and Dale Patton of Aurora. He is preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Vicki Mostek, Evelyn Patton, Ella Bosley, Loretta Mullaney, and Marge “Meg” Newquist; and brother, Edward “Don” Dubas.
