Description	:	Walt was born Dec. 2, 1930, at Ewan, Wash., to Arthur L. and Pauline Bentley Roach. He attended his schooling at Ewan and Elberton, Wash., until the eighth grade and graduated from Garfield High School in 1949. Walt joined the U.S. Army on Nov. 3, 1949, and served on the Marshall Islands. He was later discharged as a sergeant on Dec. 16, 1952. He married Dixie L. Read More	Walt was born Dec. 2, 1930, at Ewan, Wash., to Arthur L. and Pauline Bentley Roach. He attended his schooling at Ewan and Elberton, Wash., until the eighth grade and graduated from Garfield High School in 1949. Walt joined the U.S. Army on Nov. 3, 1949, and served on the Marshall Islands. He was later discharged as a sergeant on Dec. 16, 1952. He married Dixie L. Dailey June 5, 1956, at Garfield, and the couple made their home at Genesee, where Walt worked as a field man and manager for Palouse Ammonia for a few years. The couple later moved to Moscow, where he worked as a carpenter, building elevators for Emery Trautman for several years. The couple moved to Garfield, where Mr. Roach worked for Glen Gildea Building Supply. In 1969, Walt was employed at McGregor Company in Garfield, and was a field man and truck driver until he retired in 1996. He was a 50-plus-year member of the American Legion in Garfield, helped with the Garfield Float Committee for several years. Walt also enjoyed gardening, farm work and taking care of animals. Survivors names omitted per findagrave policy. He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Roach, and a sister, Betty Walker-Mattoon.
