He was born in Vancouver, Washington, the eldest son of Walt Sutton, Sr. and Helen Hannah Sutton. He attended Amboy school in Amboy, Washington, participated in sports and Boy Scouts, and graduated with honors from Battle Ground High, Class of '73 in Battle Ground, Washington. He was born in Vancouver, Washington, the eldest son of Walt Sutton, Sr. and Helen Hannah Sutton. He attended Amboy school in Amboy, Washington, participated in sports and Boy Scouts, and graduated with honors from Battle Ground High, Class of '73 in Battle Ground, Washington. As a younger man, he was a great hunter of elk, deer, and bear; a fisherman; a clam digger; a logger; a builder and craftsman; an all round adventurer. Walt surreptitiously led reporters to the top of Mitchell Peak to capture the first photos of Mt. St. Helens as she woke in March 1980. Walt was generous to a fault. "Uncle Bud" adored his nieces and nephews. He loved Christmas, buying presents for everyone, including the mandatory box of chocolates. Walt is survived by his mom, Helen Sutton; sisters, April (Tom) Reichstein and Lynda Sutton; brother, Tom (Cindy) Sutton; 7 nephews; 2 nieces; 3 grandnephews; 4 grandnieces; and many Sutton and Hannah family cousins. He was preceded in death by his dad, Walt Sutton, Sr. and sister, Trudy Sutton. The family extends a special thanks to An Amazing Heart Adult Family Home for their loving care. Also, thank you to his many previous care-givers and guardian angels who watched over him during his wandering years. Viewing was on Wednesday, November 30th, 2016 with a funeral service on Friday, December 2, 2016 at Layne's Funeral Home. Private interment was at Mountain View Cemetery in LaCenter, Washington. Memorial donations may be made to Shriners Hospital, Portland, Oregon; Community Home Health Care and Hospice, Vancouver, Washington; or North Clark Historical Museum, Amboy, Washington.
