Read More	SHICKLEY, WALTER FORREST—died at St. Elizabeth’s hospital, Lincoln, Neb., at 7:50 a.m. Tuesday, January 4, 1916, aged 28 years, 11 months, and 6 days. Walter was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John M. Shickley, members of a pioneer Fillmore county family. He was born in Geneva and he spent his whole life here. February 28, 1911, he was married to Miss Helen Stephenson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Stephenson of Chelsea township. He is survived by his wife, his parents and one brother, Dr. Harold Shickley of Kansas City. For the past nine years Walter had been employed in F.B. Bentley’s plumbing establishment. The day before Christmas, Mr. and Mrs. Shickley went to Lincoln to visit the former’s parents. The night of December 26, Walter was taken seriously ill, and the following day he was taken to St. Elizabeth’s hospital. That night he was operated on for an aggravated case of appendicitis. He rallied from the operation and hope for his recovery was entertained for a time. The body reached Geneva at 3 o’clock yesterday afternoon, and was taken to his late home. The funeral will take place at 2:30 this afternoon from the Geneva Congregational church, and the interment will be in the Geneva cemetery. Walter had a wide acquaintance all over the county, and news of his death was a shock to many friends. He was a member of the Geneva Highlander lodge and he had been a member of the Geneva fire department for many years. Among those from out of town who came to attend the funeral are Mr. and Mrs. John M. Shickley of Lincoln; Dr. and Mrs. Harold Shickley of Kansas City; Mr. and Mrs. L.A. Nielsen of Omaha; and C.W. and W.A Shickley of Ranchester, Wyo. The Nebraska Signal January 6th, 1916 page 1.
