Read More	Walter Frederick “Walt” Ulrich Jr. 1929- 2015 VETERAN Walter Ulrich Jr., 85, slipped peacefully from this life on April 3, 2015, surrounded by family in his daughter, Diana's, home in Kaysville, Utah. He was born in Hagerstown, Indiana, on April 14, 1929, to Walter Frederick Ulrich Sr. and Dorothy Louise Lilly Ulrich. He married Lois Vernetta Wixom, the love of his life, on November 21, 1952, in the Mesa Arizona Temple. She preceded him in death on November 17, 2006. They had three daughters. He and his family lived in many states: Indiana, California, Alabama, and Florida, before settling in Lancaster, California, where he retired. After Lois passed away, he moved to Orem, Utah, to be closer to his sister, Norma (Al) Akemon, and his brother, Richard D. (Genny) Ulrich. Walt grew up in Hagerstown, Indiana, and graduated from Hagerstown High School. He received his Bachelors Degree in Agricultural Engineering, from Purdue University. He was an officer in the United States Navy and served during the Korean War as a ships navigator. After his military service, he made his career in the Space industry as a mechanical engineer, working on the Apollo and many Space Shuttles. As a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Walt served in many different callings. In his later years, he enjoyed indexing on the FamilySearch website, and indexed over a million names. His example of loving others will be a legacy to all of us. Walt is survived by his daughters: Diana (George) Handrahan, Debra (Ron) Smith, and Deneille (Bernard) Madrid; brother, Richard D. (Genny) Ulrich; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and counting. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, his wife, Lois Wixom Ulrich; sister, Norma (Al) Akemon; and granddaughter, Amy Smith Hull. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 10 at 11 am in the Orem 4th Ward, where Walt was a member for the last few years, at 50 S. 800 E. in Orem. There will be a viewing in the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home at 646 E. 800 N. Orem, Thursday April 9, from 6-8 pm, and prior to the funeral at the chapel from 9:30 - 10:45 am on Friday.
