Description	:	Walter G. Nicholson, 86, of Pateros, died Friday, Oct. 29, 1999 at Brewster. He was born March 7, 1913, the son of Louis and Alice (McNickel) Nicholson at Entiat. He was a year old when his family moved to Paradise Hill near Brewster and he attended school there. Walt moved to Pateros where he worked for Lee Cooper for several years. He was born March 7, 1913, the son of Louis and Alice (McNickel) Nicholson at Entiat. He was a year old when his family moved to Paradise Hill near Brewster and he attended school there. Walt moved to Pateros where he worked for Lee Cooper for several years. In 1933, he married Hazel Terrell at Pateros. She preceded him in death in 1979. They moved to Carlton where they owned and operated their ranch and he also worked for Frank Therlow for many years. In 1962, they moved to Pateros where he was employed as a mechanic for Crisp & Spicy. After his retirement, he worked at the Pateros Cemetery. Walt was an exceptional, loving father, friend and neighbor. He always showed a lot of compassion to the elderly and especially his neighbors and several foster children. He always had his doors open. In 1980, he married Swanie Steele at Manson. They continued to make their home in Pateros. She preceded him in death Dec. 31, 1998. Walt was an Elder in his church and they held their church meetings in his home for several years. He is survived by his two daughters, Carol McCoy of Pateros and Gloria Mitsudea of Pasco; two stepsons, Alan Steele of Manson and Milton Steele of Coupeville; a stepdaughter, Marcia Gores of Chelan; a brother, John Nicholson of Sacramento, CA; two sisters, Hilda Stentz of Arlington and Betty Libby of Camano Island; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Violet Milner. Services will be conducted Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999 at 11 a.m. from Barnes Chapel, Brewster with Robert Anderson and Jenith Hamond co-officiating. Committal service and interment to follow at the Pateros Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 1-8 p.m. at Barnes Chapel. After the services, friends and family are invited to attend a dinner at the Pateros High School Commons. Services are under the direction of Barnes Chapel, Brewster.
