Read More	ZWAANTJE STEELE-NICHOLSON - Friday - January 1, 1999 Pateros - Zwaantje Steele-Nicholson, 81, of Pateros, and formerly a longtime resident of the Lake Chelan area, died Thursday morning, Dec. 31, 1998 at Lake Chelan Community Hospital following a brief illness. She was born December 9, 1917 at Platte, SD, the daughter of Hylte and Ruby (Wever) Hiemstra. She attended schools there. As a young woman, she moved to California and later moved to Lynden. She then moved to the Lake Chelan area, and on Sept. 16, 1943, she was married to Ross Steele at Chelan. Following their marriage, they resided at Waterville for a year before moving to Lake Chelan. Mr. Steele preceded her in death in April 1977. On February 20, 1980, she was married to Walter Nicholson at Manson, and they made their home at Pateros. For many years, Mrs. Nicholson was employed with Lake Chelan Community Hospital. She enjoyed fellowship for many years with a body of nondenominational Christians. Survivors include her husband, Walter, of the home; two sons: Milton Steele, of Coupeville; Allen Steele, of Manson; a daughter, Mrs. Mark (Marcia) Gores, of Chelan; two stepdaughters: Carol McCoy, of Pateros; Gloria Nicholson, of CA; two brothers: Ralph Hiemstra, of WI; Mike Hiemstra, of SD; a sister, Gertie DeGroot, of SD; a half-sister, Wolina Gray of SD; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. In addition to her first husband, she was aso preceded in death by a son, Melvin, in 1968. Services will be conducted Saturday, Jan. 2 at 1 p.m. from Precht Rose Chapel with Brian Getz officiating. Interment will be Monday, Jan. 4, at 11:30 a.m. at Fraternal Cemetery. Services are under direction of Precht Rose Chapel, Chelan.
