Description	:	Jan 14, 1975 - The Reporter - Walter Gordon Middleton, a resident of Emmetsburg since 1897, died Jan. 7 at the Emmetsburg Care Center. He had reached the age of 89 years. Born in Saltville, Va., March 28, 1885, he was the son of Ernest and Laura Goolsby Middleton. Mr. Middleton was married to Nelle Shadbolt in 1907. She died in 1953. In 1961 he was married to Ella Mulroney in Emmetsburg, where she survives. Mr. Middleton owned a lumber yard in Emmetsburg. He retired in 1946. Born in Saltville, Va., March 28, 1885, he was the son of Ernest and Laura Goolsby Middleton. Mr. Middleton was married to Nelle Shadbolt in 1907. She died in 1953. In 1961 he was married to Ella Mulroney in Emmetsburg, where she survives. Mr. Middleton owned a lumber yard in Emmetsburg. He retired in 1946. He was the first president of the Emmetsburg Rotary Club, a former Mayor of Emmetsburg and headed the Liberty Bond Drive during World War I. Mr. Middleton was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his wife; three children, Herbert (Bill) Middleton of Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Harold (Virginia) Reed of Hinsdale, Illinois, and Mrs. Bernard (Wanell) Larsen of Venice, Fla.; seven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Other survivors include one sister, Mrs. Margaret Tunnicliff of Emmetsburg, and two brothers, George of Medford, Ore., and Robert of Prescott, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his first wife, one brother and two sisters. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Jan. 10 al Martin-Balls Funeral Home with the Rev. Lawrence O. Johnson officiating. Mrs. Lawrence O. Johnson was organist with Steven Grave as vocalist. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Emmetsburg.
