Description	:	WALTER HENRY LOHSE November 24, 1922 - June 30, 2015 Lifetime Artois resident, Walter Henry Lohse, passed away on June 30, 2015 at the age of 92. He was the third of eight children born to Gus and Anna Lohse, a German Lutheran farm family in Artois. He graduated from Willows High School in 1940 and served in the Army during WWII, being discharged as Sergeant in 1946. Read More	WALTER HENRY LOHSE November 24, 1922 - June 30, 2015 Lifetime Artois resident, Walter Henry Lohse, passed away on June 30, 2015 at the age of 92. He was the third of eight children born to Gus and Anna Lohse, a German Lutheran farm family in Artois. He graduated from Willows High School in 1940 and served in the Army during WWII, being discharged as Sergeant in 1946. In 1948, he married Barbara Thomas and together they raised five children, Anne, Gus, Allen, Ted and Walter. He farmed west of Artois, primarily raising wheat, barley, clover seed and sheep. He was a member of the Glenn County Wool Growers Association, served on the board of the Orland-Artois Water District and had fond memories of hunting trips, playing fast pitch softball for the Artois softball team and flying his piper cub. His greatest pleasure in life was being surrounded by his family where he was known to host many parties and celebrations at his Artois farm or in the mountains that he enjoyed. Walter is survived by his wife, Barbara, sister Marie Pavlicek, brother Bob Lohse, sons Gus (Donna), Allen (Judy), Ted, and Walter (Claudia). He was blessed with eleven grandchildren; Rickie Mitchell, Carol Spring, Matt Lohse, Kim Fifield, Kari Colley, Greg, Kevin, Jaclyn, Scott, Jake and Kelsey Lohse, and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Anne Brand, brothers, Bill, Ernie and Richard Lohse and sisters, Dorothy Rehse and Mabel French. The family would like to give special thanks to the dedicated staff at Windsor Chico Care nursing facility who provided excellent care during his stay. A graveside ceremony will be held at the Artois Germantown Cemetery on Wednesday, 10:00 AM with a memorial service to follow at 10:30 AM at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Artois.
