Shull OBITUARY THE CHARITON LEADER Chariton, Iowa Tuesday, March 25, 1980 COLVER Walter H. Colver, son of Joseph and Florence Colver, was born in Cedar Township, Lucas County, Iowa, on Oct. 6, 1896 and departed this life March 9, at the Lucas County Memorial Hospital at the age of 83 after a year long illness. His early life was spent on a farm southeast of Russell, and he attended the Cedar Grove rural school near his home and then worked for his brother, Guy. On March 14, 1917, he united in marriage to Pearl Hatfield and they lived on a farm near Chariton until they moved to the Bethel community in 1929. One daughter came to bless this home. In 1973 he retired from farming and moved to Russell. On March 14, 1979, they celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Leroy, Guy, Lester, Dean and Mike and one sister, Flora Shimp. He is survived by his wife, Pearl; one daughter, Vera Edwards and son-in-law, Bob, of Russell; four grandchildren: Mrs. Charles (Sheryl) Pierce of Russell; Mrs. Larry (Mary) Walker of Burlington; Mrs. Jim (Donna) Coady of Albia; and Rex Edwards of Russell. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren, John, Jody and Jeff Pierce of Russell, Michelle and Mike Walker of Burlington, and Terry Coady of Albia, many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, at the Fielding Funeral Home with the Rev. Wauneita McConnell conducting. Burial was in the Bethel Cemetery.
