Phipps September 5th Funeral services for Walter H. Phipps were held Thursday afternoon, September 5, at 2 o'clock at the home and 2:30 at the Renwick Methodist Church, with the Rev. P.W. Interment Masonic graveside rites. The Wm. Freemen Funeral home conducted the services. Pall bearers were Fritz Britt, Alfred Martin, Carl Flemmig, George Latch, James Kelling and Merle Richardson. Walter Herbert Phipps, son of Edward and Philena Phipps, was born on June 27, 1879 on a farm in Boone Township and passed away at his home in Renwick, Iowa on September 8, 1946. He suffered a heart attack on August 31 and had been under the care of a physician. Most of his life had been spent in and near Renwick, with the exception of ten years in Canada and two years on the west coast. On September 2, 1902, he was married to Lottie Agard of Goldfield, Iowa. Mrs. Phipps and one brother, Wilbur of Renwick, two sisters, Ora and Millie Long, of Renwick, remain to mourn the loss of a loving husband and brother. Mr. Phipps joined the Masonic Blue Fleece Lodge of Halbrite while in Canada and became a Knight Templar Shriner at Regina, Saskatchewan. He took a keen interest in civic affairs and served as Reeves of the municipality of Griffin, Saskatchewan. He continued to serve on the City Council here in Renwick, when he returned. Mr. Phipps was a member of the Methodist Church most of his life. He was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Renwick Methodist Church at the time of his death. He has earned the Master's reward, "Well done – thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord." (Republican-Independent New» Services) RENWICK - Funeral services for Walter Phipps were held Thursday afternoon at 2.:00 p.m. at the home and 2:30 p.m. at the Methodist church in Renwick. Details of his death were not available, however, he had been in ill health. He Is survived by his wife. He has worked in Renwick for a number of years as a carpenter. ---------------------------------- Humboldt Republican September 13, 1946 Services for Walter Phipps Mr. Walter Phipps died Tuesday morning, September 3, at his home in Renwick, following a heart attack. He was 67 years old. Funeral services were held Thursday, September 5, 1940 in the home at two o'clock and at the Renwick Methodist church at two-thirty. The Rev. Paul Neal officiated at the services. Mrs. C. A. Richardson sang "I've Done My Work" by Carrie Jacobs Bond, and "Satisfied." She was accompanied at the piano by C. A. Richardson. Fritz Britt, Carl Flemmig, James Kelling, George Latch, Alfred Martin and Merle Richardson, served as pallbearers. Burial was made in the Luni cemetery. Among those from out-of-town attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Roy Nemners and daughter of Hampton; Mrs. Alice Agard, Mrs. Jennie Kelling, Mrs. Emily Mantle, and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Pinkham of Goldfield; and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Aggard of Luverne.
