Walter John Bernard Hyink, the beloved son of James and Adriantje Hyink, was born February 16, 1907 at Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was raised at Hospers, Iowa. Read More	Walter John Bernard Hyink, age 86 of Villisca, Iowa passed away February 28, 1993 at the Villisca Good Samaritan Center. Walter John Bernard Hyink, the beloved son of James and Adriantje Hyink, was born February 16, 1907 at Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was raised at Hospers, Iowa. He was a graduate of Hospers High School and Hope College, Holland Michigan in 1929. He did his graduate work at The University of Michigan. He was united in marriage to Esther H. Hoekstra on June 30,1931 at Holland, Michigan. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army. He was in the banking business many years, starting with the Hospers Savings Bank, Tingley State Bank and was President and owner of the Nodaway Valley National Bank in Villisca from 1948 until 1989.He was a member of the United Methodist Church, member and past commander of American Legion and V.F.W. all of Villisca, Iowa. He was a member of the Iowa Bankers Association, independent Bankers Association, American Bankers Association, Iowa Independent Bankers Association and National Association of 42nd Rainbow Division Veterans. He was instrumental in bringing the Good Samaritan Center to Villisca; Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents. Walter is survived by his wife, Esther H. Hyink of Villisca, Iowa; a son, James L. and his wife Joyce Hyink of Los Lunas, New Mexico; a daughter, Jan L. Smith of Red Oak, Iowa; four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.He is also survived by other relatives and many friends. Services were held Thursday, March 4, 1993 at the Sellergren-Lindell Funeral Home in Red Oak, Iowa with Rev. Sandy Wainwright and Rev. Kathryn Bates Bissen officiating. Interment followed at the Villisca Cemetery with military graveside rites performed by the Iowa Army National Guard. Siouxland Press 1993-04-07.
