He was born Jan. 23, 1894, in Franklin County, Ind., the son of William and Vesta Ross King. He moved to R.R.10, Greensburg, from the city of Greensburg in 1948. He worked for the Greensburg Schools several years and had retired from the Greensburg Water Co. He also farmed in the New Point neighborhood, and belonged to the New Point Christian Church. He had been ill two years. He was born Jan. 23, 1894, in Franklin County, Ind., the son of William and Vesta Ross King. He moved to R.R.10, Greensburg, from the city of Greensburg in 1948. He worked for the Greensburg Schools several years and had retired from the Greensburg Water Co. He also farmed in the New Point neighborhood, and belonged to the New Point Christian Church. He was a member of the Greensburg Masonic Lodge #36. He married Mae Venter Dec. 24, 1913 in Franklin, Ind., and she preceded him in death Jan. 24, 1978. He is survived by two sons: Robert W. King, Greensburg, and Edward R. King, R.R.7, Greensburg; four daughters: Alice Busser, Dover, Fla., Mrs. Sheldon (Bernice) Alverson, R.R.8, Greensburg, Mrs. Loren (Evelyn) Weber, R.R.2, Greensburg, and Betty Rohlfing, R.R.10, Greensburg; three sisters: Clyta Venter, Brookville, Ind., Ruby King, Cincinnati, and Florine King, New Point; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters: Mary A. Dudley, who died May 8, 1946 and Joyce A. King, who died in infancy June 19, 1932; three brothers: Bertis King and Ray and Roy King, twins; six sisters: Ruth Parmer, Leota McWilliams, Frances Prifogle, Jessie Ventr, Merle King and Mabel King; and two grandsons: Larry Dudley and Robert W. Busser. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home, Greensburg, with the Rev. Mark Vice of the New Point Christian Church in charge. Graveside services will be at noon Friday at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville, Ind. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
