Description	:	Walter King "Larry" Larimore was born January 11, 1893 in Danville, Illinois. His mother died at his birth and his father died within a few years. He was sent to live with an aunt and uncle who owned a hardware store. At age fourteen, he left home and set out on his own, moving about in the west and northwest, working on ranches. He eventually joined the U. S. Army, and in 1927, was stationed at Fort Monroe, Virginia. He was the tour guide at the famous fort on the day that May Stauffer from Edgemont was visiting the fort... Read More	Walter King "Larry" Larimore was born January 11, 1893 in Danville, Illinois. His mother died at his birth and his father died within a few years. He was sent to live with an aunt and uncle who owned a hardware store. At age fourteen, he left home and set out on his own, moving about in the west and northwest, working on ranches. He eventually joined the U. S. Army, and in 1927, was stationed at Fort Monroe, Virginia. He was the tour guide at the famous fort on the day that May Stauffer from Edgemont was visiting the fort with a friend. He and May met and began a long distance courtship. They married in June, 1928, and moved to Pittsburgh, where their first two children were born: Dick, in 1931 and Frances Margaret in 1932. In 1934 the family moved to Edgemont, where Nancy (1935) and Edward "Buddy" (1939) were born. Larry was a sergeant with the National Guard at Camp Ritchie and trained men in truck mobilization. After the war broke out, Larry, with a wife and four children, was deemed too old to be deployed and was mustered out of the Army at age 48. He worked for Frick Company, Wood Embly Brass Company in Waynesboro and Hub Dry Cleaners in Hagerstown. His hobby was farming his sizable strawberry patch and attending estate sales. Larry was a member of Waynesboro Gospel Chapel and taught Sunday school at Welty Church of the Brethren in Greensburg for a number of years.He died of a massive heart attack on January 27, 1967, and is buried at Welty Cemetery.
