Vass, of Chappell, passed away at his parent's home 8.5 miles northeast of this city on Sunday morning, June 19. He was taken seriously ill of the previous week, on Wednesday he was brought to town for medical care at the Themar hotel. Toward the latter part of the week he improved and on Saturday retuned home on the north table, where his death occurred the nest morning. Walter was born January 24, 1913, near Rising City, NE. and departed this life June 19, 1927, at his home, aged 14 years, 4 months, 25 days. He came to Chappell in 1921, with his parents, locating on the farm northeast of town. He attended district No. 24 school. He had completed 7th grade moving onto 8th. He was united with the Methodist church in July 1926, shortly after the Rose revival meetings here that year. Walter had a sunny, lively disposition, making many friends. Besides his parents, he leaves two brothers Howard and Henry and a sister Nellie, all of Chappell area. Funeral services were Tuesday, June 21, at the Methodist Church. Mrs. C. D. Allen of David City, aunt of the young man, Mrs. Martha Hill of Rising City, grandmother and Mr. and Mrs. Rogers and family of Big Springs, cousin of Mrs. Vass were present.
