Two years ago he was tired for killing a negro but came clear. The negro was found on Stack's own piazza with two bullet holes through his head, and the bullets were in the floor right where they came out of the man's head. Nobody believed anything except that Stack did the killing, by he proved an alibi. Public sentiment was so aroused that he left his home and went further south. Two months ago he was shot at Cassett and was nearly killed. A load of buckshot went into his neck and tore away a great swath of flesh. When the wound healed up it was found that his right arm had been paralyzed and continued to hang helpless at his side. Stack's brother was killed some time ago by Jim Parker, who is not a brother of the Parkers who are Stack's brothers-in-law, and near who place Stack's body was found Sunday. The coroner's jury which was summoned deliberated upon the case until yesterday afternoon and ordered the arrest of James and Ellison Parker, brothers-in-law of Stack, near whose farm the body was found. There had been bad blood between these for a long time and it is said that the Parkers were mortally afraid of Stack. Since Stack became paralyzed in his right arm he had begun pistol practice with his left hand. The Monroe Journal (Monroe, NC) May 2, 1916, Page 1 - Provided by: Catoe4 The body of Walter Stack, son of Mr. Seasborn Stack of the Tradesville section of Lancaster county, was found in a field about a mile from home Sunday afternoon with three bullet holes through the head. On Saturday morning Walter’s father had sent him to the field to show his hands how to mix some fertilizer while he went to Tradesville. The body was found two or three hundred yards from the forks of the road where his father last saw him. There were tracks of two men, Walter and another walking together in the plowed land, and tracks of another in a nearby field leading to the same place. Two doctors examined the body and stated that either of the three shots would have killed instantly. Walter had not recovered fully from a shot in the neck by a man Truesdale at Cassatts, SC in February. This was a very dangerous wound, and his head was drawn to one side from the effects of it. The coroner’s inquest was held Monday. As a result of testimony given at the inquest Ellison and James Parker, brothers in law of Walter Stack, were arrested and carried to jail. The next criminal court in that county is in June and it is expected that the Parker boys will be released on bond.
