Description	:	Walter Piontkowski, an old settler in this neighborhood, passed away at his home in Ashton last Saturday evening, Jan. 19 at 7:10. Walter Piontkowski, son of John Piontkowski and Teckla Lepek, was born in Grudzontz, Poland, and at the time of his death was 74 years, 3 months and 20 days of age. Read More	Walter Piontkowski, an old settler in this neighborhood, passed away at his home in Ashton last Saturday evening, Jan. 19 at 7:10. Walter Piontkowski, son of John Piontkowski and Teckla Lepek, was born in Grudzontz, Poland, and at the time of his death was 74 years, 3 months and 20 days of age. When he was but 12 years of age, he came to this country with his parents and two brothers and one sister. The family settled in Chicago where he remained for six years. In the spring of '78, he came to Nebraska and settled on a farm in Cotesfield precinct in Howard county. He was active in this part of the country, helping build railroads and later working as a section hand. He traveled with the John Robinson circus for three years. At the time of his death, he was living with his nephew, Frank Jezewski. He leaves to mourn his death, one brother, Frank of Omaha; five nieces, Mrs. Henry Alex of Omaha, Mrs. Kate Stellmach of Omaha, Mrs. Frank Topolski, Millard, and Mrs. Mike Galczenski, Loup City; three nephews, Frank, John and Peter Jezewski, many relatives and a host of friends. His parents died thirty years ago. The body was taken to the home of his nephew, Peter Jezewski, where many came to pay their last respects to the deceased. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. with Rev. A. Jarzemski officiating at the solemn services. Interment was made in the St. Francis cemetery.
