A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church, Marysville. The Rev. Gerry Sharp will officiate. Deb Landoll will play the organ while Rev. Sharp sings "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace." Pallbearers will be Tim Svoboda, Jim Price, Charles Griswold, Alan Bruna, Doug Bruna and Melvin Pralle. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established and contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary. Walter was born Oct. 9, 1920, at Winifred, Kansas, the son of Emil and Emma Schmidt Blaser. He graduated from Marysville High School in 1938 and then graduated from mechanical school in Wichita. He worked for Beech Aircraft in Wichita before entering the U.S. Air Corps in September 1942. He served three years and attained the rating of technical sergeant. He spent 29 months of foreign service in England and Germany, receiving high praise and recognition for his individual developments in improvements on a governor test stand for his shop, of which he was foreman. Since his military discharge, he has worked for three different Case IH dealers in Marysville. On Dec. 1, 1946, he married Wilma Jean Williamson in her parents' home at Little River, Kansas. Walter was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion in Marysville. He also was a member of the Moose Club and United Methodist Church in Marysville. Survivors include his wife of nearly 59 years, Wilma Jean, of the home; one brother, Floyd Blaser, Canandaigua, New York; two sisters, Lola Hoyer, Pittsburg, Kansas, and Fern Blaschke, Omaha, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Esther Pralle, Mildred Perkin and Edna Wilson.
