Description	:	Walter Silas Harris, son of Silas D. and Sarah O. Harris, was born on a farm in Gentry county, Mo, June 30, 1877 and died at the Municipal hospital in Clarinda, Feb 26, 1952, at the age of 74 years, 7 months and 26 days. He was united in marriage to Sarah A. Eggers, May 11, 1898. To this union was born one son, Thomas L. who, with his wife and daughter have resided with his parents on the farm. Harris, was born on a farm in Gentry county, Mo, June 30, 1877 and died at the Municipal hospital in Clarinda, Feb 26, 1952, at the age of 74 years, 7 months and 26 days. He was united in marriage to Sarah A. Eggers, May 11, 1898. To this union was born one son, Thomas L. who, with his wife and daughter have resided with his parents on the farm. Mr Harris was a successful farmer having spent his entire life at this occupation. He had been in failing health for the past ten years which forced him to retire from active farming and finally resulted in his death. He united with the Church of Christ while in his teens and remained faithful to his profession during the intervening years. He was also a member of the Masonic Order, Plumb lodge No 285 and the New Market chapter No 481 of Eastern Star. Mr Harris was a man of christian character and clean habits living a life above reproach. Those who survive are his wife Sarah, son Thomas, sister Mrs May Robb of Bedford and several other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held from the New Market Church of Christ at 2 pm Friday, Feb 29, 1952, with the Rev I.E. Stickelman in charge, assisted by the Rev Phil Prickett. Music was furnished by Ed Owens, Clara Cabbage, Verla Malcom and Orville Cabbage. Pianist was Opal Brown. Flower bearers were, Mae Thurman, Ermal Kelso, Bessie Wells, and Dessie Fine. Pallbearers were, Vern Melvin, Ernest Gray, Emery Hardee, Ora Cade, Johnnie Mankle and Lewis Wells. Masonic services were conducted at Old Memory cemetery by members of the Siam Plumb lodge No 285 AF & AM with Don Foreman as worshipful master. CLARINDA HERALD JOURNAL, Clarinda, Iowa, Mar 13, 1952
