Description	:	Walter Thomas Mosier, eldest son of George and Rosella Mosier, was born April 14, 1894, near Deshler, Nebr., and departed this life Jan. 9, 1969, at the Belleville hospital at the age of 74 years and 8 1/2 months. He was baptized and became a member of the Church of Christ Nov. 22, 1908. He received most of his schooling at the Prairie Flower School and attended Manhattan Agriculture College a short time. Read More	Walter Thomas Mosier, eldest son of George and Rosella Mosier, was born April 14, 1894, near Deshler, Nebr., and departed this life Jan. 9, 1969, at the Belleville hospital at the age of 74 years and 8 1/2 months. He was baptized and became a member of the Church of Christ Nov. 22, 1908. He received most of his schooling at the Prairie Flower School and attended Manhattan Agriculture College a short time. Walter entered the armed forces Oct. 5, 1917, going first to Fort Riley, Ks., then to California for further training. He was sent to the East coast where he was assigned as a replacement with a New England division with whom he served in France until Nov. 30, 1918. His last assignment was with Battery E, 101st Field Artillery. He received his discharge at Camp Dodge, Ia., on May 15, 1919. He was united in marriage to Zelda Larkins on Dec. 8, 1920, and to this union was born one daughter, Esther. He was engaged in farming most of his life, living in the Munden, Byron and Chester communities during this time. He retired from farming in 1962 because of ill health. Walter was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Frank, of Phoenix, Ariz. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Zelda; daughter, Esther; son-in-law, Perry; and four grandsons, John, Walter, Ray and Roger; two brothers, Alfred and family of Beaumont, Calif., and Elmer and family of Chester; one step-sister, Mrs. Hal Holman (Dorothy) and family of Emporia, Ks.; and many other relatives and friends. Friends to Walter were an important part of his life and he appreciated them very much. One of the greatest sources of enjoyment for him was doing things for others. If he had a creed it could be summed up in this little poem: "Let me live in a house by the side of the road Where the race of men go by - The men who are good and the men who are bad, As good and as bad as I. I would not sit in the scorner's seat Nor hurl the cynic's ban; Let me live in a house by the side of the road And be a friend of man." Funeral services were held at the Chester Church of Christ Sunday afternoon, Jan. 12, with Dennis H. Davenport, minister, in charge. Singers were Mrs. Wilbert Crouse and Mrs. Dennis Davenport with Mrs. Ray Truss, organist. Pallbearers were Arthur Rossmiller, Glen Day, Harold Crouse, Harlan Graue, Adrian Dake and Kenneth Dake.
